Our History
Wilkes Vocational Services, Inc. has successfully provided opportunities and employment for people with disabilities since April 30th, 1966.
The beginning stages of our operation were in a warehouse with just a few clients; our company has grown tremendously thanks to the support from the surrounding community!
Training & Employment
Wilkes Vocational Services strives to offer pre-vocational training, vocational training, and employment opportunities that considers the ever-changing needs of our persons-served. Current employment opportunities offered within the program include – but are not limited to – reception, housekeeping, paper shredding, custom framing, woodworking, and micro businesses.
Education
Wilkes Vocational Services participates in a Compensatory Education class offered through Wilkes Community College, engaging participants in academics, giving them the additional resources for learning and growth.
Community Involvement
Wilkes Vocational Services has benefited from accepting monetary donations, donations of supplies (new and gently-used) for arts and crafts, invitations to social events, written positive reviews/comments, and volunteer assistance – all of which are very important to our daily operations. We are grateful for the support of our surrounding community, and aim to empower our participants to engage and contribute through volunteering or becoming working members of our community.
